The New Patriotic Party is appealing to the government to pay salary arrears of workers yet to be migrated to the new pay structure – the single spine salary – to afford them some excitement in the yuletide.
“It is our appeal to government that those of our workers who have not been migrated on to the single spine due to unnecessary implementation delays should at least receive their salary arrears. That will enable them bring some little excitement to their homes on occasion like this,” the party said in a statement issued in Accra Tuesday.
The party also called for care and moderation during the festivities “especially as we travel on our roads,” counselling that “he commemoration of Christ’s birth and the drawing of curtains on the past year should bring us fulfilment and not pain. It should be an occasion to reflect on the past year with the view to having a better future.”
Below is the full statement issued by the party
As we approach Christmas and the close of the year, the New Patriotic Party extends its warm and seasonal greetings to Christians in particular and to Ghanaians in general.
It is the wish of the Party that, as we go about our festivities, especially as we travel on our roads, we would do so with care and moderation. The commemoration of Christ’s birth and the drawing of curtains on the past year should bring us fulfilment and not pain. It should be an occasion to reflect on the past year with the view to having a better future.
We use the occasion to say ayekoo to Ghanaian teachers, nurses, other public servants and workers in general for the contribution they have made, and continue to make to the prosperity of our dear nation. It is our appeal to government that those of our workers who have not been migrated on to the single spine due to unnecessary implementation delays should at least receive their salary arrears. That will enable them bring some little excitement to their homes on occasion like this.
May the joy and fun of the occasion, which we all rightly deserve, unite us more as a people, and replenish our energies.
Seasonal greetings!
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie
General secretary
